No se trata de asumir una posición patriotera, ni de omitir los defectos de nuestra madre patria o ignorar sus problemas… Se trata de valorar lo que tenemos y enseñarlo; mostrarle al mundo que somos más los colombianos preparados e inteligentes que laboramos duro y honestamente. Somos una inmensa mayoría de colombianos los que buscamos la paz, los que trabajamos hoy por una vida mejor y los que sembramos para un futuro capaz de mejorar ese historial oscuro que ha sido protagonizado o escrito por un puñado de indeseables.
Punto de Partida Resulta lamentable que muchos habitantes no conozcamos los más importantes lugares turísticos, culturales y recreativos de nuestra ciudad y de nuestro país. Lamento reconocer que ese era mi caso personal y, entrando en años, fue cuando comencé a preocuparme por conocer los rincones de mi ciudad y de mi patria.
Pero me ha ocurrido que al llegar a determinados lugares me encuentro con que la realidad es diferente a lo anticipadamente visto en las publicaciones turísticas… No mejor, ni peor, sencillamente diferente. Claro, las fotos tomadas por fotógrafos profesionales son realizadas con permisos especiales y son apoyadas por costosas producciones que pueden incluir maquillaje, iluminación, plataformas o acceso a sitios desde donde se pueden lograr los ángulos más convenientes para una toma, de tal manera que embellecen tanto el lugar, que la fotografía de la postal o del libro termina siendo irreal si se compara con lo que finalmente puede ver un visitante cuando está de cuerpo presente en el lugar.
Riqueza fotográfica Las páginas de Internet dedicadas al turismo casi siempre muestran los mismos ángulos y no poseen la diversidad y riqueza fotográfica que espera el espectador. En el caso de los libros, uno encuentra verdaderas obras de arte fotográfico pero son extremadamente costosos y, dado a lo onerosas que son las producciones fotográficas y la impresión, muchas locaciones que también merecieran ser presentadas, quedan excluidas.
Siempre quise conocer y retratar las ciudades, poblaciones, los paisajes y los rincones de Colombia, pero la inseguridad del país siempre fue una limitante importante; pero igualmente importante son los costos de los desplazamientos y el tiempo que esto demanda, por lo que es impensable asumir particularmente la financiación de semejante empresa.
Pero hay sueños que mortifican, que debido a su tamaño los vemos inalcanzables y, a menos que los fragmentemos y los convirtamos en pequeñas metas, nunca los veremos a una altura que esté a nuestro alcance. Soy un hombre que elude las fantasías, que considera que todo lo que quiero puede hacerse realidad, siempre y cuando no se le dedique tiempo a soñar con verdaderos imposibles.
¿Hacer fotografía por toda Colombia? Eso sonaba como un proyecto gigantesco e irrealizable, pero se pudo concretar cuando pensamos que en el día a día podíamos fotografiar una ciudad, en el mes a mes un departamento y que en el año tras año podremos ir armando el rompecabezas fotográfico de Colombia. Fotografiacolombia.com es un proyecto interminable, como es interminable la transformación de todo lo que hay en el planeta tierra. Hoy somos un pequeño grupo de fotógrafos fundadores, seguramente se nos agregarán más y, en el futuro, serán otros los que recojan este legado y continúen recorriendo el país para hacer el archivo de fotografía documental y conceptual de Colombia más rico, creativo y sencillo del que se tenga conocimiento.
Queremos que nuestros observadores disfruten de imágenes espontáneas y tengan la visión más cercana a la realidad, por esta razón es que el estilo y calidad de la mayor parte de nuestras fotografías serán equivalentes al resultado obtenido por un turista con excelente equipo fotográfico y con conocimientos avanzados de fotografía.
Nuestro punto de partida fue Bogotá y desde hoy, junio 16 de 2006, comenzaremos a relatar y mostrar la evolución de este apasionante reto. Esperamos hacer un buen trabajo y que nos visiten desde todos los rincones del mundo para que todos disfruten de este sitio tanto o más de lo que estamos disfrutando quienes lo hacemos.
